Retrofitting CNC Controls and Drives

It has become common place in manufacturing industry to update the control technology on machine tools. A machine tool frame is designed not to deflect under load and is of a rigid construction.

This means that the very expensive metal work can be refurbished many times without causing a significant reduction in rigidity. However the control equipment technology is continually being enhanced offering ever more productive features and improved reliability.

Since the late seventies Ebor has been involved in the retrofitting of CNC controls, new axis servo drives and new spindle drives to existing machine tools. This type of work often required major mechanical modifications to the axis and spindle transmission. Ebor has provided this type of solution from design, manufacture and assembly through to commissioning.

Ebor has been involved with special CNC machine tool projects from conception through to production, carrying out mechanical design and manufacture, electrical design and panel build, software design and implementation and finally on site training for personnel on programming and operating the re-engineered machine tool. No machine is too big or too small for us. We have worked on a CNC Lathe with a 100-foot bed to a tiny Hembrug CNC lathe and on a very large Skoda CNC Floor Borer to a tiny Moore CNC Jig grinder.
